IEEE 1394 Firewire Optical Extension


Optical IEEE 1394b FireWire Repeater (M4-200/201) can extend signal transfer range up to 1,640 feet (500 meter) and achieve speeds of up to 800Mbps in full duplex data rate. A pair of VCSEL transmitters and PIN PD receiver are loaded inside the Opticis FireWire Repeater for high performance.

Any IEEE1394 device or controller can communicate to each M4-200 repeater through 4.5m copper cable and these distantly placed repeaters are interconnected with duplex multi-mode glass of fiber (MM GOF) cables. For ease of use and security of connection, duplex LC connector is adopted. Two electrical bilingual ports of 1394b-2002 standard are installed to support S800 (800Mbps) data rate, fully complying with IEEE1394b-2002, but it also backwardly supports S400, S200, and S100 by using DS (9 pin or 4 pin)-to- bilingual cables.
